Snow Ordinance
Guttenberg's snow ordinance limits on-street parking until snow is plowed or removed to the curb. This policy will have major effects on drivers who park their vehicles on the streets of Guttenberg.
Public off-street parking in the downtown area is available in the parking lots north of City Hall on Herder Street and south of City Hall on First Street. Almost all other Public Works operations become secondary to the snow removal operation. In a snow event, public works staff work until all required chemical or abrasive control and snowplowing operations are completed. Guttenberg does not plow private property and does not shovel out ridges in driveways because private property is not part of city snow removal. It is unlawful for any person to remove snow from private property and place snow or ice on public property (streets). Please call the City Office with any questions about this policy at 563-252-1161.
Please refer to the map for an overhead view of the streets affected by the snow removal ordinance.
