 When are regular Council Meetings?

Regular Council Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 502 S. First St.

 How can I request to be on the next City Council meeting agenda?

Fill out the attached form and return it to City Hall by 4:00 P.M. the Tuesday before the council meeting in which you would like to present your issue or question.

 How do I apply for City utility services (Water, Sewer, Electric, Garbage)?

A utility application form must be completed and submitted to the City Office.  You can open the application by using the link below.  The application can be printed out and completed manually, or emailed to jbittner@cityofguttenbergia.gov.  Please note, a deposit is required if you are unable to provide a 12 month credit history from a current gas or electric company.

 How can I enroll my utility account in the Auto-Pay program?

Utility customers that would like to have your utility account paid directly from a checking or savings account (a free service) or through a debit or credit card (service fees will be added) each month can create an account through FrontDesk.  The FrontDesk account will also allow you to view your utility account information, water and electric usage, and elect to receive your utility bill through email. 

To set up a FrontDesk account you will need your most current utility bill (to verify information).  You will need to enter your utility account number as a 10 digit number (if it displays as a 9 digit number add a 0 to the beginning).  Your street address will need to be typed exactly as it is on your bill (ex: North First Street spelled out, no abbreviations).  It is recommended that you use the Chrome browser to set up your FrontDesk account.  If you have any questions about this program or encounter any issues setting up the account, please call City Hall at 563-252-1161 x 201 or stop by the office.

 How do I apply for a building permit?

An application for construction and/or occupancy compliance certificate must be filed at City Office and approved by the City Manager.  Application forms may be picked up at the City Office or downloaded using the following links.

 Where do I apply for a dog license?

Dog licenses are handled by the City Clerk's Office.  Licenses expire Dec. 31st each year and must be renewed annually.  Rabies tag information is required for the issuance of a license.  Fees are $10.00 for all animals and will include admittance to the dog park once completed.

 How can I participate in the Christmas Lighting Contest?

 How do I apply for a construction dumpster permit (when it will be located on City property)?

Print and complete the attached application and return it to City Hall.

 What appliances are eligible for energy efficiency rebates?

Guttenberg Municipal Electric customers are now able to utilize the online portal for energy rebate submissions.  We have expanded the items qualify for rebates, so check out the link above before your next shopping trip.

To submit a rebate request you will need your contact information, the installation address and date, and depending on the item purchased: the brand, model number and serial number of the item being installed, the fuel source for your water heater and pictures of the itemized receipt and yellow energy star label. To qualify for the rebates your energy source needs to be City of Guttenberg Municipal Electric.  If you have any questions or need assistance call or stop by the City Office (563-252-1161, 502 S. 1st Street).

 When is garbage day?

Residential waste collection and recycling services are contracted through Kluesner Sanitation. 1-563-927-5977. Collection date is each Tuesday for regular trash and beginning 1/1/2021 recycling will be collected every other Tuesday.  Check here for the current calendar of recycling and yard waste collection dates.  Toters are provided for both trash and recycling.  Below is a guide to recycling.

 Owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program

The City of Guttenberg is applying for an Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program.

The rehabilitation program can assist homeowners to make repairs to their home to help maintain the home structurally. Some projects include replacing shingles or siding that are in poor condition; and/or to aid in energy efficiency such as adding insulation to the attic and walls, replacing drafty old windows and doors, and updating the electrical and plumbing.  As part of the grant application process, full and completed applications are being requested to verify there is an income need within the community.

We are accepting pre-applications at this time.  If the City is awarded the grant those individuals that qualify will be contacted for additional information.  Please complete the pre-application below and return it to the City Office, or stop by the office for a printed application.
