Recycling and Tree Dump updates Dec 2024
Compost/tree parts policy
The compost area is to be used for compost as described by Kluesner’s policy of items that they would normally pick up at alley locations. Tree branches/brush must be cut into shorter pieces and should be no bigger around than the size of your finger. Leaves can be brought in bulk, they do not need to be bagged, but paper bags are also accepted (no plastic). Any other materials that are considered compost can be dumped as well (pumpkins, vegetables, etc.)
There are many items that have been dumped at the compost site in the past that we cannot accept including trash, cardboard, wood boards, pallets, tree parts bigger around than your finger, root balls, chunks of concrete, etc. If these items keep getting dumped, the site will be closed, so please help police the use of this site.
We are also offering a cardboard dumpster at the site. This is to be used for any larger or extra CLEAN cardboard items that do not fit in your normal recycling toter. Please break down your cardboard and place it in the dumpster the best you can to conserve space for others. Again, please respect this or this dumpster will be removed.
Please respect the compost site area. Understand that the City uses large equipment to load the compost, so please place your material in the designated area inside the concrete blocks. It is not easy to move the compost, leaves, etc. away from the fences with large equipment. Do not block the cardboard dumpster with your compost material.
If there is a wood chip pile present at the compost site, this is FREE for anybody to take as needed. These are chips from trees that were removed from street right of ways by the City, could be any species and include larger chips or small pieces of branches from those trees. If you have equipment to load a larger amount, feel free to do so or load by hand. If the City happens to be at the site with equipment, we can assist with loading larger quantities.
If you have larger tree parts to get rid of, the City will again start accepting tree parts at our tree dump site located on 310th St. off of Miners Creek Road. You must request permission to dump at this site. The minimum cost to dump is $10 per pickup load or $50 per dump trailer or dump truck load. The City is allowed to burn at this site when conditions allow or can elect to pay for grinding of the larger materials when the site becomes overwhelmed, so the load costs help offset these expenses.
